INCORPORER | KIDs, memories and activation of the score

A publishing project, an object of mediation (2022 - 2025)

We are collaborating with Claire Buisson to create an editorial object that is an extension of the piece INCORPORER | KIDs, for young audiences.

For whom:
for children, alone or in groups, and adults accompanying children (mediators, educators, teachers, parents, etc.).

What: a poetic and playful object, in the form of a book, like a storybook, but a participatory story that sets in motion, not just one that is read or told, a story that is said by doing. A sleek, luminous, reassuring and warm object. A book of emotions. One that makes you act, feel, and sense.

Why: it is an object of resonance with the dance in the performance. To enter into the choreographic proposal for those who have seen or will see the performance, but also stands independently for those who will not see it. The verb 'to incorporate' is declined in different synonymous verbs. Each verb corresponds to an action that allows us to experiment with a law of physics. This action is then associated with a choreographic instruction that will enable you to move from physical activity to danced movement until̀ you create your own dance. An educational book to get a taste of the dance of agency*.

Why: the choreographic project is based on principles of physics on the one hand and is inspired by the motor development of the infant on the other. What moves us? What sets us in motion physically, bodily and emotionally? This publication aims to share these resources for children's play and well-being.

* The "dance of agency" is a concept developed by anthropologist Tim Ingold. It describes a dynamic relationship between humans and the materials they interact with, where each partner – human, material, and environment – acts upon and is acted upon by the other two. Ingold argues that this relationship is one of correspondence rather than interaction, emphasizing the idea that humans do not simply interact with the world, but respond to it. This form of correspondence involves a process called transduction, which mixes the movements of one's sentient awareness with the flows and currents of animate life, blurring the boundary between the human and the material until they become inseparable or indistinguishable. This blending and intertwining of sentience and materials are essential to the act of making or creating. It implies that the process of making involves a deep connection and interplay between the human agent and the materials they work with.
